Compress PDF
Make a PDF smaller without a visible change. Text stays sharp, nothing is uploaded.
Photos are compressed to look the same, not to hit a number. Each image is re-encoded at the lowest quality that still measures as the same picture as your original, and the result shows that score. If an image can't get meaningfully smaller that way, you get a lossless result instead. Audio and video are always lossless.

Text, fonts and drawings are kept exactly as they are, so text stays sharp and selectable. Only the photos and scans inside are re-encoded, at the quality chosen above, and each one is checked against the original.

MP3, AAC and Opus files already threw data away when they were made, so there is no lossless way to shrink them further. They come back untouched.

Video is repackaged without re-encoding, so its picture quality remains identical. Removing audio or metadata can reduce the file size.

About File Compressor
Reduces the size of a PDF by re-encoding the photos and scans inside it, only as far as they still look the same, and checks every image against the original. Text, fonts and drawings are kept exactly as they are. The PDF never leaves your device.
When people use it
- A PDF too large for an application or upload form
- Emailing a scanned document that exceeds the attachment limit
- Shrinking scanned certificates and marksheets before you attach them
- Saving space on a phone or a shared drive
Questions
Will the compressed PDF look different?
It is designed not to. Each image is checked against the original and only re-encoded as far as it still matches. Text is not touched at all.
Why did my PDF not get much smaller?
Savings come from the photos and scans inside. A PDF that is mostly text, or whose images are already compressed, has little left to remove.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser, on your own device.
